Spooktacular Savings: Budget-Friendly Costumes at Once Upon A Child

Posted by Javessa Stanton on Oct 28th 2024

Can you believe Halloween is right around the corner? Our carved pumpkins and fun spooky decorations are outside of our house and adding to the neighborhood holiday flair. I love to stick to our tradition of matching family costumes every year, so I started costume shopping weeks ago. But I get it, parents get busy! Even if your October flew by, it's never too late to find adorable and affordable Halloween costumes at Once Upon A Child

Even though we've been planning for all things Halloween, this day can become overwhelming and stressful, especially if you're doing things last minute. And if your kids are like mine, they tend to change ideas quite often so sticking to a theme can become tricky. To save your time and energy from scrolling online and paying at full price, I recommend swinging through your local Once Upon A Child and shopping sustainable!

I love finding the perfect gently worn costume, and sometimes I DIY a lot of it myself by picking up pieces here and there. I find shopping at Once Upon A Child is the best option as I know I will find items that are super affordable, cute and in the great condition. Their selection is huge and their store's well organized, making it easy to find what I need — in size, color tone, texture, and so much more.

For our Halloween theme this year, we chose to wear costumes inspired by one of our favorite classic animated movies. I was so lucky to find everything I needed at my local Once Upon A Child for such a great price. For my son, Rowan, I managed to find this full Dalmatian costume for just $5! However, for my daughter, Raya, I wanted to do something a little different. I was able to find a white body suit, tutu, and thick leggings. I also matched it up with a pair of black boots to tie the look perfectly together.

I can't wait to see all the adorable kids in their costumes this year! If you have any old costumes that your little ones have outgrown, consider donating them to Once Upon A Child. It’s a great way to recycle your gently used kids stuff and spread some joy to another mom!
