Thrifty Holiday Style: Festive Finds for Kids at Once Upon A Child

In my October blog, I mentioned that Once Upon A Child is a fantastic spot to find special occasion pieces! These items are typically worn just once or twice, so they’re in excellent condition. With the holiday season upon us, I love thrifting for my kids’ special occasion outfits since they’ll only wear them a couple of times before outgrowing them.

For example, in last month’s post, I included a red sweater vest in my son’s Christmas gift basket. Here he is, rocking his new vest over a white turtleneck, paired with grey pants and white sneakers.

I’ve been holding onto this beautiful navy velvet dress for my daughter. I found it at my local Once Upon A Child for just $8.99—far less than its full retail price. I adore the gold embroidery and sequin details, which make her outfit festive while keeping her comfortable. Since it’s a short-sleeved dress, I paired it with a white cardigan for a little extra warmth.

The kids wore these special outfits when we visited Santa at the mall. Originally, the plan was to have just the kids in the picture, but my daughter was too scared so my husband and I joined in! My son was brave and confidently told Santa exactly what he wanted for Christmas.
