What's Inside Our Toddlers' Busy Bags?

Whether we're heading to a restaurant or embarking on a big trip with toddlers, I always make sure to pack something to keep them entertained. Since we try to minimize screen time, I keep a bag full of surprises ready to go. I love using ripstop zip bags—they’re durable, compact, and perfect for travel.

When packing, I focus on quiet, mess-free activities without small parts. I also avoid anything that might roll away, like cars or balls. Coloring and activity books are a go-to for us; they’re only $1, and I pair them with twistable crayons and stickers for easy fun.

For adventures like trips to the zoo, my kids love bringing their own functional gear, like a kid-friendly camera and a pair of binoculars. For road trips and flights, LCD drawing pads are a lifesaver, keeping little hands busy without any mess. I also like to toss in a few fidget toys, such as spinners, pop-its, and Slinkys. Pro tip: start building a stash with party favors!

Books are always a great addition, too. I love packing slim ones, like early reader books or those with the classic gold spine—they’re lightweight and easy to carry. Did you know that Once Upon A Child sells books? In addition to their wide selection of toys, they offer a variety of books at affordable prices—making it the perfect place to grab new stories for the kids without breaking the bank!

In just a few weeks, we’re heading to the happiest place on earth, and this busy bag is definitely coming with us. This will be our fourth time flying as a family of four, so I’m confident everything will go smoothly!

As for outfits, I scored the cutest heart tutu for my daughter at Once Upon A Child for just $3. It was an additional 30% off and pairs perfectly with her new sweater. For my son, I found an awesome superhero-print short set for $7.50. Since it’s still a little chilly, I swapped the short-sleeve top for a plain black long-sleeve to keep him cozy.

With our essentials packed and outfits planned, we’re ready for another adventure!
